ADVANCED ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture at Luna is not what most people have experienced. Dr. Carter draws on multiple classical lineages — including the Wang Le Ting Golden Needle system, Master Tung and Master Tan lineages, Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, and advanced Classical Chinese Medicine protocols — to deliver treatments that are precise, deeply individualized, and clinically sophisticated. These systems have been applied with remarkable results across a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain, neuropathy, and migraines to complex autoimmune disorders, post-stroke recovery, and treatment-resistant internal medicine conditions.
A typical acupuncture session in most Portland clinics lasts 45 minutes and is designed to fit within the constraints of insurance reimbursement. That model requires practitioners to work within standardized protocols and time limits that simply cannot accommodate what this medicine is capable of at its highest level. At Luna, initial sessions run 2.5 to 3 hours. Follow-up sessions are 2 to 2.5 hours. That time is not filler — it is what genuine diagnosis and precise treatment require.
This is why we operate outside the insurance system. Not because we can't work within it, but because doing so would require us to limit what we can offer you. We are not willing to do that.
The result is a level of care that addresses root causes rather than managing symptoms — drawing on thousands of years of refined clinical wisdom, applied with the full attention and time your condition deserves.
Because this medicine works at the level of the whole system rather than isolated symptoms, it can support a wide range of conditions. People commonly come to Luna for chronic pain, orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, autoimmune issues, migraines and headaches, digestive and hormonal imbalances, sleep and stress disorders, and the lingering effects of injury, illness, or long-term medication use.
If your condition isn't specifically named here, that's often exactly what a consultation is for, to determine whether this approach may be helpful for you.
